Reason why Yahoo bought news summary app “Summly”

A few weeks ago, Yahoo made headlines when it acquired a startup, Summly, run by a 17-year-old CEO named Nick D’Aloisio for 30 million dollars.

Yahoo acquired the app which summarised news articles from the web and no one could really knew why, which has now been answered.

Alibaba considering Yahoo buyout if given a chance

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, is keen on buying Yahoo Inc if the opportunity presents itself and has held discussions with other potential buyers about options.

Asked whether Alibaba might like to pick up the ailing US Internet company, Ma told an audience at Stanford University that he would be “very interested in Yahoo.”

Google searches slips compare to Microsoft, Yahoo!

Google Inc’s share of online searches in the US slipped during August from July, while rivals Yahoo Inc and Microsoft Corp gained, according to research firm ComScore Inc.

Google had 64.8 per cent of US searches last month, down from 65.1 per cent in July, according to ComScore. It was the second-straight month of decline, following no change in June.
