Flash player 11, Air 3 launched to support flash 3D games

Adobe has just sent us a press release that does not come as a shocker. The next major overhaul in the flash based Architecture is supported by the new Flash Player 11. Adobe CEO had earlier expressed his views on these changes. Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 will enable developers to create 3D graphics, access to hardware APIs like accelerometer and NFC chips, and display full-frame 1080p videos within their apps rather than opening in a native video player.

We estimate about 200 million smartphone and tablets, which includes iOS devices, to run Flash apps by the end of this year. The number is expected to cross 1 billion by 2015

-Anup Murarka, Director, PR (Flash Platform), Adobe Systems

With this milestone release Adobe pushes the envelope of what is possible on the Web with a typical PC and opens up a new world of immersive, high-performance gaming experiences. Flash offers the best way for content owners to deliver their most demanding experiences, including games, premium video and sophisticated data-driven apps, to all of their users, while HTML 5 tools such as Adobe Edge and Dreamweaver® are ideal forbuilding interactive Web pages, rich ads, branded microsites and general-purpose mobile applications.”

– Danny Winokur, vice president and general manager of Platform, Adobe.

Adobe also says that it is working closely with various platform developers and especially to improve the Flash experience on Android devices that have Flash-enabled browsers.
